Don’t Worry Darling; Disastrous? Worse, Disappointing.

The most interesting stuff about this film isn’t even in the film itself, but the behind the scenes drama with everyone, or the fact that the lady next to me in the theater was very obviously playing with a vibrator during the Florence Pugh and Harry Styles scenes and making it very awkward for everyone around her. The Batman Is The Best Comic Book Film to Date.

Let’s get this out of the way 2022’s The Batman is by far my favorite adaptation of the character, spanning a decades long history of different stories, characters, and interpretations spanning the vast multiverse that is DC. The Batman is my favorite DC film, and an early contender for one of my favorite films of this year. Perfect Blue, a Reality Unlike Most

So years and years ago I heard whispers of this anime horror film called Perfect Blue. A film supposedly so disturbing that you were basically guaranteed to be traumatized watching it. Its been years now and on my birthday in 2019 a friend of mine had bought the movie for me on Blu-Ray as at that point I was starting to explore director Satoshi Kon’s … Continue reading Perfect Blue, a Reality Unlike Most

Spiraling Into Madness with Spiral: From The Book Of Saw

There was something enticing about characters being killed as a punishment rather than being lambs to the slaughter. The film’s idea mixed the philosophy of John Doe from Se7en and the menacingly mechanical monstrosities of Cube in a thriller film. That same film series … Continue reading Spiraling Into Madness with Spiral: From The Book Of Saw

“The Lodge”; A Cold Lesson About Denial

So I feel as if I’m the only person who has watched The Lodge, a psychological horror film that seems to play on the fear of isolation and a profound sense of not belonging.

The Lodge released in (select) theaters in 2019 and released on Blu-Ray on May 5th, 2020. I had known about the films existence for quite a while seeing previews for the film before watching both Midsommar and Parasite.

The short simple synopsis, Grace Marshall (played by Riley Keough) is stuck in a winter lodge during a heavy storm with two kids, Adain and Mia, who absolutely hate her as they are still grieving over the death of their biological mother. Their biological committed suicide after hearing the news from her ex-husband that he plans on marrying the woman, Grace, he had been interviewing her about her experiences of being raised in an extremist Christian suicide cult. During their stay, mysterious events begin to occur that seem to link to Grace’s past in the cult.

Before you finish reading this, please watch the film, as I will be spoiling the film from here on out.
