8. Anomolisa

Anomolisa is my first film of two by Charlie Kaufman that I have on the list, and it just gave me a punch to the gut in regards to emotion.

I think about the movie at least once a day and it has me look at myself and question myself.

I question my relationships with people and I second guess things around me. I just want to find that unique thing about people so that I don’t feel alone.

The animation is on parr with movies like Fantastic Mr. Fox and Coraline, using it’s format as a theme in the story. As Michael’s mental state starts crashing down the world itself starts crashing too. Things seem out of place and his faceplate starts to show. Its unnerving and simply unique.

The movie is closer to being human than many other films, and that’s a good thing.
